Practice History
The business is a well-established veterinary practice founded about 100 years ago. Originally started by the Crowhurst family of veterinary surgeons in Sittingbourne, the practice re-sited to Maidstone and was run successfully from various converted buildings for many years. In 1990, we moved into purpose built premises and our name changed from “Crowhurst & Partners” to “Newnham Court Veterinary Group”. Three partners ran the practice until October 1996. One of the existing partners then left and two new partners joined.
The practice started a branch surgery at the Mid Kent Shopping Centre in Allington, Kent, in 1994. This was sold in 1996 to Pennards Veterinary Group.
In 1998 we were granted Veterinary Hospital status, complying with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeon’s stringent standards. We also comply with the British Small Animal Veterinary Association standards. In the same year the partners also created a Limited company called Pet Emergency Treatment Services Limited (PETS Ltd) to provide an out-of-hours emergency service for a number of veterinary practices in the Maidstone area
In 2004 an equine branch was opened in Shadoxhurst, Ashford, Kent. This was closed in 2006.
On 1st October 2008 the partnership dissolved and we incorporated into Pet Emergency Treatment Services Limited. The partners became the directors of the new company.
