​Welcome to our work experience information area, here you will find everything you need to know about applying for a placement, and what work experience at Newnham Court entails.

Work experience gives you the opportunity to practically partake in our work environment which will enable you to gain a full understanding of the veterinary industry, the types of roles available and what those roles involve.

We see work experience as vital to the company, and we encourage and support you to come and join us on a placement, inspiring the future generation of veterinary professionals. 

Here at Newnham we are committed to offering consistently high-quality placements, the key principles of work placements are outlined below.

  1. Our work experience placements are customisable, from your application and statement we will gain an understanding of what you are hoping to gain from your placement, what attracts you to the veterinary industry and what career goals you hope to achieve in the future. From this we can tailor your experience and guide you to the skills and qualifications that are required for the role you one day hope to achieve.

  2. At Newnham, we nurture, support and encourage. With a team of over 80 employees, you will not be short of wisdom, knowledge or inspiration, all of us here are friendly and approachable and want you to get the most out of your time with us, that is why we will be with you every step of the way.

Pre-Application Questions

Are you aged 16 or over? If No is the answer: We are unfortunately unable to take on students under the age of 16, should any applications be received from students under the age of 16, they will automatically be rejected.

Work experience placements at Newnham Court are limited to blocks of 40 hours over one week. We are unable to provide long term placements, internships, student nurse placements, or university/degree placements. Please can you confirm that you have read and understood this statement and confirm that you are applying for a 40-hour work experience placement only.

Terms and conditions

Students must be in attendance for the entire placement, except where a prior agreement is in place for exceptional circumstances (for example medical appointments or exams). Any unauthorised absence will be notified to parents and schools as soon as possible. We reserve the right to cancel a placement with immediate effect should the student have more than one unauthorised absence.
A complete application form must be completed before any placements will be confirmed.
No students under the age of 16 will be accepted on site, proof of age will be required before starting your placement, should it be found that you have applied while being underage, your application will automatically be rejected.
We reserve the right to amend the work placement at short notice.
Students must be appropriately dressed at all times, anyone that arrives for a shift dressed inappropriately, will be asked to change, or may be sent home.
All placements are unpaid.
Practice policies and protocols must be adhered to at all times, failure to comply may result in your placement being terminated.
