Gill Sheppard

Customer Service Manager

Gill joined Newnham Court in 2008 as part of the reception team assisting in the completion of insurance claims and administration of our Pet Health Club. In 2010 she was promoted to Deputy Customer Services Manager, progressing to Customer Services manager in 2014. Gill has four rescue cats, a cocker spaniel and three very lively Chihuahuas!

Gower McCarthy

Deputy Customer Service Manager

Gower started his career at Newnham Court in 2016 as a Nursing Auxiliary; gaining much valued experience in assisting the vet and nursing team during our day practice and emergency out of hours service. In 2017 Gower ventured into the customer service team as Insurance Claims Administrator, processing and auditing the insurance claims submitted for the much loved pets that visit us here at Newnham Court. Since then, Gower has progressed into the role as Deputy Customer Service Manager where he looks forward to facing new challenges.

Sarah Magowan


Sarah has worked for Newnham Court Veterinary Practice since 2014, while here she has completed a NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service. Sarah’s role is to answer the incoming telephone calls and process insurance claims forms. 

Sarah has one rescue cat and in her spare time enjoys going for walks with her miniature daschund.

Penny Simmons

PHC Coordinator

Penny first joined Newnham Court in 2002 as part of the reception team. In 2010 she took over the administration of our wonderful Pet Health club which now has over 2000 members. Penny is also responsible for sending out patient reminders to ensure that they are kept up to date with their vaccinations, flea and worming treatment.

Sarah Phillips


Sarah has worked in the veterinary industry since leaving school in 2001. Her first role was as a      pre-vet nurse which she did for eight years before deciding to go into customer services. Sarah joined Newnham Court in 2016 where she assists with the busy switchboard, answers the emails and helps with the completion of insurance forms. Sarah has a NVQ level 2 in Customer Service.



Kayleigh joined us in November 2017.  After milking cows as a Dairy Herd Manager for the last 12 years, Kayleigh returned to the veterinary industry as part of our reception team.  Kayleigh has three working dogs Orca (German Shorthaired Pointer), Tweed (Working Cocker Spaniel) and Jaffa (Bracco Italiano.)  Kayleigh also runs her own business in her spare time, making items such as feather brooches, hat pins and silhouettes.

Alice Hyett 


Alice joined the reception team at Newnham Court in August this year. She already has four years’ experience working in the veterinary industry and is looking forward to getting to know all of our lovely clients and their pets. Alice has two dogs, a rescue cat and a white rabbit.

Rachel Lamonby 


Rachel has only recently joined Newnham Court as receptionist in August this year. She comes from a strong customer service background and enjoys greeting our lovely clients and their pets! Rachel has two cats (Coco & Mocha), two leopard geckos (Bailey & Ditto) and a corn snake called Coral.

Maria Bermingham


Maria has 9 years customer service experience. This is her first role working in the veterinary industry but she is excited to learn a new set of skills. She shares her life with Tilly, who was a rescue cat.
